Ms. Mimi Afshar is a United States Patent Attorney and has been admitted to practice law in the State of California.
Ms. Afshar studied chemical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Following her studies at UC Berkeley, she worked as a chemical engineer at ALZA Pharmaceuticals in Palo Alto and as a process engineer at Guilford Pharmaceuticals in Baltimore. After working at an intellectual property law firm as a technical specialist, she became interested in patent law. In 2002, she became a United States Patent Agent and worked as a patent practitioner for intellectual property law firms. In 2009, she graduated summa cum laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. Before joining Geissler & Associates, Ms. Afshar had been a practicing patent attorney in private practice assisting inventors with patent drafting and prosecution services and also serving as a consultant to top intellectual property (IP) law firms.
Ms. Afshar has been appointed Adjunct Professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego where she conducts a legal writing course to IP Fellows, focusing on contemporary IP-specific issues.
Ms. Afshar is familiar with the details of patent prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is fluent in Farsi and English.
