Patent Research

PrIOR ART

Geissler & Associates offers expert patent research in English-language publications and public records for evidence of prior art and possible patent infringement. This is a necessary precaution that must be taken to avoid patent infringement claims.

Professional Staff

Mr. Stuart Seymour, a Swiss Patent Agent, heads the Geissler & Associate Patent Research Department.

Mr. Seymour is equally familiar with patent search protocol at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington D.C. and the European Patent Office in Munich.

Research Fees

Of course, the scope of a patent search necessarily depends upon the nature of the invention. Typically, however, an exhaustive search of English-language publications and public records for prior art is likely to cost as follows.

U.S. Patent Research $9,500
European Patent Research $7,500

Patent Records

In the first instance, Geissler & Associates searches patent-related databases of the United States Patent and Trademark Office by means of CASSIS, WEST and EAST software.

In the second instance, Geissler & Associates undertakes manual searches of published sources at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Depository, the U.S. Library of Congress, and the Archives of the European Patent Office.

Language translation services are available.

Professional fees

Geissler & Associates charges $240 per hour for all patent searches in English-language publications and public records for evidence of prior art and possible patent infringement.

Prior to undertaking any patent search, Geissler & Associates shall estimate the costs likely to be incurred, in writing, and shall obtain prior written authorization from the client.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Geissler & Associates adheres to strict confidentiality for all client communications and patent-related matters.
