Irish Trademark Registration

Geissler & Associates offers legal services in relation to the registration of trademarks in Ireland.

In Ireland, there are overlapping legal systems of trademark registration. The national trademark system is based on the Trade Marks Act of 1996 and is administered by Irish Patent Office (IPO). The European trademark system is based on the Council of the European Union (Council Regulation (EC) No 40/94 of 20 December 1993 on the Community trade mark) and is administered by Office of Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM). European trademarks are called Community Trademarks (CTM's). In general, care must be taken to comply with both legal systems and it is highly recommended to make concurrent trademark applications to both.

Geissler & Associates provides legal representation in ex parte administrative proceedings before the Irish Patent Office (IPO) and the Office of Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) in relation to the registration, opposition and cancellation of trademarks.

Irish Trademark Fees

Separate fees are levied for each trade category and for each jurisdiction where registration is sought. Typically, however, the costs per trademark or service mark, inclusive of legal research, filing fees and professional fees, are as follows.

Slightly higher fees are charged for International Trademark Registration pursuant to the Madrid Agreement and Protocol.
